Al Maqam is the Swissôtel tower within the Abraj Al Bait complex, entered through the same grand development that faces the Haram across the courtyard. Staying here puts you around two hundred metres from the mosque — three or four minutes on foot using the complex's internal routes — without the very highest tower prices that the clock tower itself sometimes commands.
The hotel was designed with pilgrims in mind: group check-in desks, generous lobby seating for tour leaders to gather their parties, and direct connections into the complex's mall and food levels. For Umrah groups and large families, that practical layout matters as much as the postcode.

Rooms at Al Maqam look either toward the Haram and Kaaba or over the city; the Haram-side rooms on higher floors frame the mosque beautifully at Fajr. Interiors follow the Swissôtel style — light wood, calm colours, proper desks and seating areas — and many rooms are configured for three or four guests, which helps families stay together instead of splitting across floors.
Breakfast is served early enough to fit around Fajr, and the hotel's restaurants and tea lounge stay busy with pilgrims trading rest for tea between prayers. Because you are inside Abraj Al Bait, the mall's pharmacies, barbers and gift shops are an internal lift ride away.
Al Maqam connects internally to the Abraj Al Bait levels that lead out toward the Haram courtyard, so most of your short walk is indoors. Hotel staff direct guests to the quickest exit for each prayer, and the route avoids the busiest road crossing used by street-level hotels.
Umrah groups, families of three or four sharing a room, and pilgrims who want the Abraj Al Bait location with a slightly calmer price than the clock tower itself.

Yes — as part of the Abraj Al Bait complex it connects internally to the levels leading to the Haram courtyard, so the roughly 200-metre walk is largely indoors and avoids main-road crossings.
Many of its rooms are laid out for three or four guests, which is one reason groups choose it. Tell us your family size and ages on WhatsApp and we will check the right room configuration for your dates.
Both stand in the Abraj Al Bait complex facing the Haram. The Fairmont occupies the clock tower itself, while Al Maqam is one of the neighbouring residential-style towers in the same complex — the walk to the courtyard is only a minute or two longer.
